During my roughly four and a half years at JDK, I worked primarily on the Xbox 360 brand. I was responsible for lead design as well as design direction on various design efforts:
Console packaging, Xbox LIVE packaging, accessory system redesign, product photography direction, console unboxing / setup experience design, international lifestyle photography, visual language evolution, brand management, and the development / maintenance of all ongoing global usage guidelines.
Xbox accessories were getting lost to other third-party products at retail, and in need of a heavy refresh.
The ask: Redesign the packaging system for the entire range of Xbox 360 accessories.
The approach: Elevate and better utilize the design elements unique to Xbox, create greater visual distinction (especially at a distance), and also bring clarity through a more scannable communication of product functionality.
